Don't forget to ask the guy why the compressor went out. 90% of the time it is a system problem that causes a compressor to fail.
The price may or may not be in line with what is correct. Certainly call around to other reputable places for more quotes. But for those that are talking about it, remember the only part covered is the compressor itself. Unless a specific warranty contract is in place, the HO is still going to have to pay for a new filter dryer, nitrogen, new gas if it is a burn out, torch gases, vacuum and reclaimer fees, truck/travel charges, disposal fees and many other small items and fees that may apply. Contractors are not going to eat this stuff. They are business, and like any other business various fees and overhead costs are going to be past on to the customer.
